The Jewish festival of Passover (Pesach) took place earlier this month. Our North East Nisa-Nashim group got together in Newcastle to share a traditional Passover meal together. Caroline Boobis, one of the North East Nisa-Nashim co-chairs said “7 women attended at my home and we talked about the traditions and rituals of Pesach and Seder – but mainly about food! Traditional fare such as fish balls, chopped herring, cinnamon balls and of course matzo were served. As the evening progressed our conversation seemed to flow naturally between Jewish and Islamic traditions as well as Sephardic and Ashkenazi customs, and by the end all agreed it had been a simple but extremely enjoyable way to celebrate Pesach with friends.” We think it sounds a lovely evening and we hope many other Nisa-Nashim groups will hold their own inter-faith Passover celebration.
