South-West London Nisa-Nashim held a lunch to get to know one another. During the course of the meal, one of the Muslim women gave a short talk about Eid Ul Adha and one of the Jewish women gave a talk about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. As Rosh Hashanah was so close, apple and honey was shared, after the appropriate prayer was said.
Co-Chair Adele Hetherington said, “It was a wonderful afternoon. The atmosphere amongst all the women was so warm and friendly and the food was amazing and, of course, there was loads of it!! It was fascinating to see how much our cultures had in common.”
Plans are now being made for a walk in Richmond Park at the end of the month and to combine culinary efforts to cook lunch for the Merton Faith in Action drop in for the homeless.
